Teaching Parents to Nurture Radiant Children

Welcome!  Are you prepared for your new role as a parent? There is no more important job!

The Conscious Parenting Center provides innovative parent education, mother coaching and counseling facilitated by Becky Hicks, PhD. We focus on great beginnings for the earliest years, from preconception through preschool, to ensure the best start in life. You will learn about the art and science of early parenting through interactive classes and individual and group sessions that are fun, educational, healing and inspiring!  Also, Becky works directly with you and your baby and toddler to support optimal growth and development as she encourages and counsels you and your family.

What is conscious parenting?

Conscious parenting implies conscious conception and pregnancy for healthy and loving outcomes. A healthy mother creates a healthy baby! Parents-to be first take intentional steps to allow their child to reach his/her potential, based on developmental planning starting in the womb. After birth, it is important to follow the baby’s lead. Do you have this knowledge? The experience in womb shapes the brain that develops in infancy.

This educational preparation is an ongoing process of learning, self-discovery and responsibility supported by a wealth of parenting knowledge, tools and resources. This approach empowers expecting couples and parents to first become aware of their own history, feelings and unique styles of relating that influence their child’s responses and behaviors. Parents learn how to communicate authentically and to nurture calmly which builds trust and provides emotional security through all the fun and challenging stages of the early years.

Conscious parenting prepares you to reduce your baby’s risk of developmental lag, birth trauma, learning disabilities, ADHD and autism. These conditions are increasingly prevalent in today’s children.

Conscious parenting also enhances your communication with your child, which increases learning potential, wellness and bonding at the critical first stages of life.  You will see the results in your radiant and healthy child who is developing a healthy brain and nervous system for a lifetime of happiness and learning.

Prenatal Learning through Music and Story
Moms to be. The baby is conscious in the womb and capable of learning. This class is based on recent multicultural research that documents prenatal stimulation produces happier, calmer and more developed babies. Babies will be exposed to certain kinds of musical selections and stories that will be introduced in class. Talking to the baby will be encouraged in the form of daily sharing of love and honest and positive feelings designed for prenatal bonding.
Tuesdays, 1:00PM - 1:55PM, 01-22-2008 - 04-08-2008

Shake Rattle and Roll Over
In this class babies learn their first movements at their own rate. There is practice rolling over, tummy time is introduced and encouragement of good grasping skills is fostered using various objects which develop eye hand coordination. Games and songs are interactive.
Thursdays, 10:30AM - 11:15AM, 01-24-2008 - 04-10-2008

Babies on the Move
This course involves developmental stimulation through movement, touch, rhymes, music and song. Movement and multi-sensory explorations are encouraged and mastered as babies have lots of floor time while crawling, scooting and walking through space.
Thursdays, 9:30AM - 10:15AM, 01-24-2008 - 04-10-2008

Baby Signs
Baby signs are introduced through hand gestures to allow the infant to be able to non-verbally express wants and needs and to learn the signs for familiar animals, objects and food. This method of signing gradually increases verbal acquisition with understanding of concepts.
Tuesdays, 11:15AM - 12:00PM, 01-22-2008 - 04-08-2008

Active Learning for Little Ones
